Seoul City to introduce mobile app for civil service

(IT) Seoul Metropolitan Government said Friday that it will develop a smartphone application by 2014 through which citizens can process their civil affairs.

Fare fight: Tel Aviv’s taxi dispatchers wage war on popular smartphone app

(IT) Get Taxi launched its app in Tel Aviv in April 2011, which allows anyone with a smartphone to order a cab without calling a taxi firm. The application finds the nearest cab and, if the driver is free, Get Taxi directs the cab to the customer, while the customer can track the approaching cab on a map on their phone. Customers can also order cabs through Get Taxi’s website.

Project to make Shanghai a wireless hub

(IT) According to Xu Da, general manager of Shanghai Mobile, China Mobile expects to invest 13 billion yuan ($2.05 billion) over three years to deploy seamless mobile connections in the city, under a deal signed with the Shanghai municipal government last year.
