MEST distributes 546 rlg laptops to schools

The Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology (MEST) on Friday, under its Information Communication Technology (ICT) Project, distributed 546 rlg laptops to some educational institutions in the Accra Metropolis and beyond.

The presentation formed part of the Ministry’s Mathematics, Science and Technology Scholarship scheme aimed at enhancing the teaching and learning of science and mathematics in the country’s various educational insititutions.

Out of the 546 laptops, 456 were presented to some selected schools and individuals in the Accra Metropolis while the remaining 90 laptops went to the Prisons Service and other selected schools individuals across the country.

Among the beneficiary schools include; University of Ghana, Institute of Professional Studies, Central University College, Accra Polytechnic, Achimota Senior High School, Ideal College, St. Mary Senior High School and West Afria Senior High School

Caleb Abeeku Adams of the Kotoka Primary/Junior High School, Burma Camp, is among the crop of individual beneficiaries of last Friday’s presentation

Initiated in 2011 and in partnership with indigenous electronic giants, rlg Communications, MEST has so far distributed 6, 220 rlg laptops to universities, polytechnics and some selected individuals nationwide. Under the scheme, students and or institutions apply to the MEST for assistance in the form of laptop to enhance their studies.

Their applications are then certified by MEST upon which qualify students and or institutions are published in the national daily to access the product at the offices of rlg nationwide
